Photographic Workshops, Tours & Expeditions to India for the Discerning Photographer
It was late in the night when I received an email from one of the stock agencies I work with, stating that they wanted images blossoms.  I headed off to the nearest park early next morning,  spent the better part of three hours just seeing things, poking my lens amongst bushes and shrubs. Experimenting with composition and what-have-you-not, breaking quite a few rules along the way.
It is generally accepted practice that when photographing something, the object should be in sharp focus.

Says who???
By getting really close to - no, make that by going within a blossom, really looking within to see what I saw, by careful choice of aperture and the myriad things that go into making a photo, I managed to render some images where just a bud or two were in acceptable focus, the rest of the scene being rendered as sheer hues. The results are images that look less like photographs, and more like paintings.
As luck would have it, none of the two images featured here "made the grade" as far as the stock agency went, considering the special requirements of the client. Was it a waste of my time? I think not! I had a whale of a time, came back with some memorable images (or, at least I think so!) that can be added to my Fine Art portfolio.
So, go ahead and break the rules! You'll be surprised what you may come up with.
